Summerland Foothills Ranch

About this Project

Set into a lush hillside and grounded by dry-stack walls, this home draws its strength from honest materials; local stone, charred timber, steel, and native planting on the green roof tied together with low, sheltering rooflines that make the architecture feel rooted and still. Inside, plaster walls and rugged oak ceilings contrast clean-lined steel windows and polished white oak floors, while rooms pivot around framed views that shift from vineyard to chaparral to ocean beyond. Spaces feel serene and elemental, with gestures like a monolithic marble shower opening to the land, or a rough-hewn kitchen island softened by artisan tile and delicate glass. Everything is warm, tactile, and quietly luxurious—the architecture standing back to let the setting lead.
